There is no sunset stop, no dinner and no coach: you drive to the Ermita de las Nieves inside Teide National Park, the group starts forty minutes after sunset, and for two hours you do nothing but look at the sky and understand what you are looking at.
The guide is Starlight-accredited and structures the session around how the celestial sphere actually moves — why the sky rotates the way it does, which constellations are up in this season, and how to tell one from another well enough to find them again from home. History, science and mythology are woven through it rather than delivered as a list.
High-end optics do the rest, with laser-guided explanations pointing out targets before you go to the eyepiece. Groups are deliberately small, which the operator frames as the point rather than a constraint — astronomy rewards calm and time at the telescope, and a small group gives you both.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on the tour and would highly recommend it! ⭐️ Roberto was incredibly knowledgeable, and having such a small group made the experience even more special. We all had plenty of time to use the telescope and really enjoy the experience — something you simply wouldn’t get with a larger tour. There were two buses nearby with 60+ people and just one guide, and I’m sure their experience wouldn’t have been anywhere near as personal or enjoyable as ours. Wonderful tour! Everything was perfect. Many interesting informations. The guide even waited longer to show us the Saturn! Water, blankets and chocolate included!! With photo of the moon and familiy photo at the end. Just another big group on the parking was disturbing a bit.

Where is Ermita de las Nieves?
It is a small chapel inside Teide National Park, on the caldera plateau, and it is one of the recognised night-sky spots up there — easy to find, with parking and an open horizon. You reach it by car on the park roads.
Why does the tour start forty minutes after sunset?
Because that is roughly when astronomical twilight has faded enough for faint objects to appear. Starting earlier would waste time on a sky that is still too bright; starting much later would cut into the observing window. It does mean the meeting time moves by well over an hour between summer and winter.
Is two hours long enough?
For a pure observing session, yes — it is longer at the eyepiece than most sunset-and-stars combinations, which spend the first half of the evening driving and watching the sun go down. If you want the sky rather than the outing, this format gives you more of it.
Do I need my own car?
Yes. Transport is not included and there is no public transport into the park at night, so a rental car is required. If you do not have one, book a tour with pickup from the south-coast resorts instead.
